Murder On The Dance Floor
Saturday 4th October 2008

10:30 AM - 14:30 PM
A Crime Prevention Day For All The Community
At the Broadway Hotel Ballroom, Letchworth Garden City

About the event
On Saturday 4th October, North Herts Crime Prevention Panel will be hosting a community crime prevention day at the Broadway Hotel ballroom in Letchworth Garden City. The event will be themed around a murder mystery competition 'Murder on the Dance Floor', which will form a backdrop to the day's events.

In the two weeks prior to the event you may see posters appearing around the towns of Letchworth, Baldock, Roystonand Hitchin advertising the event. You may also see an article in the Comet, radio coverage on Three Counties Radio, email announcements on the OWL (Online Watch Link) system and other forms of advertising.

We are expecting the following policing teams, volunteer bodies and local authority agencies to be in attendance:

• Police - Automatic Number Plate Recognition - vehicle & team
• Police - Armed Response Unit - vehicle and team
• Police - Scene of Crime Officers - forensics unit and stand in the ballroom
• Police - Patrol Cars - for .ride along' tours
• Police - Recruiting team stand in the ballroom
• Police - Volunteer Scheme stand in the ballroom
• Fire and Rescue - Arson Prevention stand in the ballroom
• Safer Neighbourhoods team - stand in the ballroom
• North Herts Crime Prevention Panel - stand and video presentation in the ballroom
• Neighbourhood Watch - stand in the ballroom
• North Herts District Council - stand in the ballroom

Participants will need to be at the Broadway Hotel, no later than 09:30 on the 4th in order to set up their stands. There will be a briefing for all participants in the ballroom at 10:00 - since EVERY stand will have a role to perform in the murder mystery competition. Tables and chairs for each stand will be provided, as will power extension leads if your stand requires it.

Light refreshments will be provided for all participants (not the general public) inside the ballroom as the event will notfinish until 14:30, after which there will no doubt be clearing up to do.

There will be ample reserved parking at the Broadway Hotel, although priority will go to Police vehicles and access willneed to be maintained both for the ride along vehicles and the firearms unit (in case they are called to an emergency).

The event is hosted by North Herts Crime Prevention Panel. If you have any questions about the event, especially if youhave any doubt about your willingness or ability to participate - please contact Dennis Wall, 07766 064675 or
