Knebworth Park Cricket Club |
|
|
 |
Set in the beautiful grounds of Knebworth
House the Knebworth Park Cricket Club is one of the most progressive
clubs in the county of Hertfordshire.
SENIOR CRICKET
This year, the club's first team plays in the ECB Home Counties Premier
Division 2 East and fields a further five sides in the Saracens Herts
League; and on Sundays there is three elevens and a development side.
We are the only club in Hertfordshire with six league elevens and the
majority of our players are products of the club's outstanding youth
policy.
The club's young captain Ryan Skeggs first began playing at the club
when he was only four and another important product of the club's youth
system is opening bat and county wicketkeeper Tom Jenkins, who has just
spent a second winter playing in Australia.
There is an effervescent club spirit - embracing training, playing and
socialising. There are no elitists - the first team bond and take an
interest in all the other teams. This environment is further stimulated
by a trio of Aussie coaches who run the training sessions each Tuesday
and Thursday from 6pm.
The club is always open and looking for new players at all levels - see
below for more information.
CLUB OF THE YEAR 2004
The end of the 2004 season saw both the 1st and 2nd X1’s Champions of
their respective leagues, the 5th X1 promoted from Division 11 and
become the first club to field a sixth eleven in the league. The club
were the Saracens Hertfordshire League Club of 2004.
NEW NETS FUNDED BY SPORTSMATCH
Groundbreaking new nets are now in use. These are three enclosed nets
incorporating bowlers’ run-ups which were funded by Sportsmatch and
sponsors F.Cooper and Son Ltd, Home Counties Surfacing and Beckwith Ltd.
BOWLING MACHINE
The club also has a new bowling machine.
NEW THIRD GROUND
In addition to the two pitches established on the Knebworth Park ground
we have now taken on a third pitch on Knebworth recreation ground.
COLTS YOUTH CRICKET
We have one of the largest and most successful youth cricket sections in
the Home Counties. The season commences on Sunday 17 April starting at
09.30am and finishing at 12:00 approximately and will continue on every
Sunday until Sunday 29 August.
For the first time we are running an under-8 team in the league. In
fact, all years from under 8 to 15 have a league programme.
Several age groups will be taking part in festivals. In total over 100
matches have so far been arranged and more than 12 coaches and helpers
are committed to running training and matches to enable every youngster
to progress and to enjoy their sport.
HALF-TERM AND SUMMER COACHING SCHOOL
There’s a Coaching School at half-term and in four weeks of the summer
holidays. Phone 01438 817448 for more info or email
cj@onetel.net
AUSSIE COACHES
The club will again be supported in its coaching effort by three coaches
from Australia including our club coach Graham Rose, who in Australia is
responsible for coaching at every age level in central New South Wales
from 5 to 19.
CLUBMARK
In 2004 we were one of the few cricket clubs in Hertfordshire to be
granted accreditation under ClubMark through the ECB and Sports England.
What this means is that the club meets standards in the way it coaches,
organises its self, and is recognition that Knebworth Park supports the
development of a club that is safe, effective and child friendly.
NEW PLAYERS WELCOME
We welcome new players at both senior and youth levels. No matter what
your level of ability and the playing aspiration you may have with such
a large number of sides there is a place to fit all shades of talent.
