Our thanks to the 600 residents who have
taken the time and trouble to complete the Parish Survey. We are still
busy entering the statistics and thousands of comments and suggestions
which you have made. We hope to publish the results more fully next
month. The statistics reveal some interesting views with split opinions
on:
-
Affordable housing
-
Provision for a secondary
school
-
Improvements to the Surgery
-
The need and disadvantages of a
bypass.
A majority appear to be in favour of
relocating Lowe's yard but are anxious to retain the considerable asset
of their business in the parish if at all possible.
Traffic congestion is a universal cause
for concern with many constructive suggestions to overcome this major
problem. These suggestions inevitably include demands for improved car
parking provision both around the station and in the High Street.
The protection of the greenbelt and our
rural environment is high on most peoples agendas and on their list of
reasons for living in Knebworth.
Thank you to everyone who has offered to
help with the next stage of the plan. We will be holding an open meeting
in February to set up 'focus groups' to examine the range of these
complex issues. We are hoping that more volunteers will come forward to
be included in the work of these groups (contact 01438 233 919)
Please look out for further news in the
February issue of the Parish Magazine and in the local press.
With our wishes for a Very Happy New
Year.
