Past and Present tour of Knebworth Gardens:
The gardens at Knebworth House are looking particularly fine this summer. They are enhanced by an exhibition by students from North Hertfordshire College's Creative and Cultural Academies. Taking the theme of Past and Present, the students have created works of art which are on display throughout the gardens throughout the month of July. Wire knights and dragonflies, garden hangings, elephants made from car parts, a knitted tree cover and ceramic toadstools are amongst the hidden treasures you will discover on your tour around the gardens. The enthusiasm, energy, creativity and imagination of the students is boundless.

Cake Stall:
St. Mary's and St. Martin's will be selling home-made cakes and goodies on St. Martin's Green this Saturday July 13 from 9.30am till they've all sold like the hot cakes they will be if the heatwave keeps up.

Fine weather for Festival Fun:
The late Edna Channing and her husband Mervyn ran a hoopla stall at the Village Fête for many years. Edna's ashes were reunited with Mervyn's last Friday June 28 in Dowager's Lane, in the only sunny patch in a day of otherwise non-stop downpour. I think she must have been putting out one of her famous prayers for God to put his umbrella over the Festival Fun Day on June 29 too. The day was glorious. Sunday June 30 topped it, though, with uninterrupted sunshine for the Festival Songs of Praise which raised the roof of St. Martin's. The hymns were chosen by village organisations and churches from a selection of the BBC Songs of Praise online poll top 100. Home-made cake and tea set the singers up for Pimms on the terrace, a tour of the secrets of Knebworth House gardens and a hog roast to round off what must have been one of the most successful festivals ever. Many thanks to the organisers and all who worked so hard to make it so memorable for so many.

Shadowman and the Silhouettes:
Lest you should think that there is no more fun to be had in the village, the Royal British legion presents a live trio singing classic favourites from the 60s including The Beatles, The Shadows, Dusty Springfield, the Everly Brothers and more this Saturday July 6 from 8pm. Members £1, non-members welcome for £2.50, children free.

Pre-School Fun Day:
And if you can't wait another year for a Fun Day, fear not. Knebworth Pre-School invite you to join them at their Family Fun Day at the Station Pub on Saturday July 13 from 12noon - 4pm.

Cake Stall:
St. Mary's and St. Martin's will be selling home-made cakes and goodies on St. Martin's Green on Saturday July 13 from 9.30am till they've all sold like hot cakes. The early shopper gets the best choice. You have been warned.

Good Egg Club join the Space Academy:
The Knebworth Family of Churches are now taking bookings for their Summer Holiday Club. The Club fast-forwards Daniel (famous for being in the lions' den) and his friends and imagines what it would be like if they were trainee astronauts in the Space Academy. It runs from August 13-15 from 10am-12noon in Trinity Church. To book/for more details contact GoodEggClubBookings@gmail.com. Deadline for receipt of bookings is July 14.

Every picture tells a story:
The ladies of the WI have an intriguing meeting in July. Artist Linda Peacock will create an oil painting as she tells a story and donate it to the raffle. Join them at 7.45pm next Wednesday July 10 in Trinity Church Hall, Park Lane. New members and guests welcome.
