"Summertime Music in St Martin's"
For the opening weekend of the Festival, St Martin's will become an exciting performance space with tiered seating for the audience and special lighting. This will be the venue for: an evening of Cabaret, a rolling Showcase of Knebworth Talent including the new Knebworth Youth Choir, a show featuring music from Movies and Musicals with the Knebworth Community Chorus, an evening of vibrant Gospel Music with Ancient Landmark, and it will no doubt enhance the morning service on the Sunday.

Monday 13th - 7.30pm to 9.30pm (with John Langley, one of our soloists)

June 17th
  • Cabinet Shuffle
    St Martin's Church - 8pm
    A light hearted evening of witty banter with a mixture of sophisticated close harmony singing, ranging from Madrigal through Bizet, Manhattan Transfer, Frank Sinatra, right up to Tom Jones and Billy Joel. There will be solo items throughout the evening, all accompanied by celebrated composer and jazz pianist Will Todd.

June 18th
  • Village Fête
    St Martin’s Green - 10am to 3pm
    Have fun with the kids, wander round lots of local stalls, or just enjoy a barbecue under the trees. A chance to find out about the organisations in the village. A morning packed full of entertainments: Stalls, Plants, Tombola, Refreshments, BBQ, Games, Balloon Modelling, Bouncy Castle, Punch and Judy Show and many more.
    Suzanne Hodges is coordinating this event so please
    call her on 07846 777107 if you wish to run a stall.
  • Knebworth Bowls Club
    Knebworth Recreation Ground - 10:00am to 3pm

    For anybody who would like to come along and Have-a-Go. Note: only soft, flat shoes to be worn. Any sort of heel is unacceptable, trainers are OK. All other equipment will be available and people will be on hand to advise and instruct.

    St Martin’s Church - 10am to 2pm

    Some of Knebworth’s many talented residents will take the stage for short performances in a rolling programme over several hours. Performers and listeners can come and go but there will be something for everyone to enjoy including for the first time a performance by the Knebworth Youth Choir. A programme of all the performances will be published shortly before the event - check the village website for the last minute details and/or come to the Fête which will be happening at the same time on the Green outside St Martin’s. If you would like to be one of the performers (as an individual or in a group) then contact Sam Jellett on 01438 235185.
  • Movies and Musicals
    St Martin's Church - 8pm
    Music from Movies & Musicals will be at the core of the performance by the Knebworth Community Chorus. Joining them will be John Langley and Jayne O’Mahony who were such a hit in last year’s Festival. Songs from several Rodgers and Hammerstein hit shows will be in the programme and also from Les Mis, Disney, West Side Story, Wizard of Oz, Thoroughly Modern Millie and more! Andrew Sackett will again be at the piano.

June 19th
  • Ramble 11am
    Meet at Station Pub car park. Come and explore the countryside around Knebworth on this morning walk of about 3-4 miles for all the family – dogs welcome. Organised by Kathie Painter of the Knebworth Walking Group. Why not have Sunday lunch at the Station Pub at the end of the walk? Please order your meals before we leave.
  • Gospel Choir
    St Martin's Church - 7.30 pm

    The national choir of the Redeemed Christian Church of God who have their headquarters here in Knebworth, "Ancient Landmark" will present an evening of vibrant gospel music.

  • Flower Arranging Demonstration
    Trinity Church Hall, Park Lane - 3.15pm
    Well-known local floral artist Joyce Furssedonn returns with a demonstration called “Inspiration”. She will also talk about the preparation of plant material and “Containers with a difference.” Enjoy a cup of tea and homemade cake and maybe win one of Joyce’s arrangements in the raffle. Sponsored by Knebworth

  • Fashion Show 8pm
    Knebworth Primary & Junior School
    This fashion Show, in aid of Knebworth Pre-School, will feature clothes manufactured by the factories that make for the leading High Street stores. Afterwards you will be able to buy items at greatly reduced prices. Your ticket includes a glass of wine.

    On behalf of Knebworth Evening Women’s Institute, a Garden Talk on “Central London Royal Parks” by Jim Buttress who worked for the Royal Parks for 25 years and these include Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Green Park, St James’s Park, Buckingham Palace and Clarence House.     Experienced Yoga teacher, Julia Lawrence BWY (Dip) is giving an opportunity for people of all abilities wanting to learn more about Yoga. Hatha Yoga increases flexibility, stretches and strengthens muscles and achieves a feeling of calm and relaxation. Come along

    A fun afternoon with plenty to do for the whole family, incredible inflatables for all ages, ride-on steam traction, panning for gold, penalty shoot-outs, golf challenge, face painting, sponge bob, traditional fun stalls, BBQ, beer tent, PIMMS, refreshments and lots more at Knebworth Primary and Nursery School.

  • “Songs of Praise” Service
    St Martin’s Church - 5pm

    Knebworth Family of Churches invites you to a “Songs of Praise” Service. Give thanks for the Knebworth Festival and much more! You can choose a favourite hymn or Christian song and, if you wish, tell us why, by completing and returning one of the forms at any of our churches no later than Sunday 12th June. Arrive early and share a drink and chat.
  • Festival Finale
    Knebworth House - From 6.30pm
    Jazz on the Terrace with Franklin Street New Orleans Jazz band and a glass of sparkling wine. 8pm Concert with the Aurora Ensemble in the Banqueting Hall. An evening of varied music from the fun of the 18th century through luscious romantic music to the sounds of the Mississippi Blues. The members of the Ensemble will introduce us to their highly entertaining programme. “The Aurora Ensemble played with complete professionalism - tight, witty, beautifully balanced and cleverly phrased” The Independent on Sunday.
