About the event
On Saturday 4th October, North Herts Crime Prevention Panel will be
hosting a community crime prevention day at the Broadway Hotel ballroom
in Letchworth Garden City. The event will be themed around a murder
mystery competition 'Murder on the Dance Floor', which will form a
backdrop to the day's events.
In the two weeks prior to the event you
may see posters appearing around the towns of Letchworth, Baldock,
Roystonand Hitchin advertising the event. You may also see an article in
the Comet, radio coverage on Three Counties Radio, email announcements
on the OWL (Online Watch Link) system and other forms of advertising.
Attendees
We are expecting the following policing teams, volunteer bodies and
local authority agencies to be in attendance:
• Police - Automatic Number Plate
Recognition - vehicle & team
• Police - Armed Response Unit - vehicle and team
• Police - Scene of Crime Officers - forensics unit and stand in the
ballroom
• Police - Patrol Cars - for .ride along' tours
• Police - Recruiting team stand in the ballroom
• Police - Volunteer Scheme stand in the ballroom
• Fire and Rescue - Arson Prevention stand in the ballroom
• Safer Neighbourhoods team - stand in the ballroom
• North Herts Crime Prevention Panel - stand and video presentation in
the ballroom
• Neighbourhood Watch - stand in the ballroom
• North Herts District Council - stand in the ballroom
Timings
Participants will need to be at the Broadway Hotel, no later than 09:30
on the 4th in order to set up their stands. There will be a briefing for
all participants in the ballroom at 10:00 - since EVERY stand will have
a role to perform in the murder mystery competition. Tables and chairs
for each stand will be provided, as will power extension leads if your
stand requires it.
Refreshments
Light refreshments will be provided for all participants (not the
general public) inside the ballroom as the event will notfinish until
14:30, after which there will no doubt be clearing up to do.
Parking
There will be ample reserved parking at the Broadway Hotel, although
priority will go to Police vehicles and access willneed to be maintained
both for the ride along vehicles and the firearms unit (in case they are
called to an emergency).
