The Parish Plan's aim for secondary schools is 'To be
vigilant to opportunities to improve the choice and standards of
secondary school provision for parish children.'
Many children from Knebworth Primary move on to Heathcote
or Marriotts Secondary schools in Stevenage. The County Council is
currently consulting on the number, size and type of location of
Secondary Schools in Stevenage and under the two proposals they are
offering either one or both of these schools will be closed.
There is a round of public meetings to give you a
chance to have your say. Heathcote's is on 14 June and
Marriotts' on 19 June.
Although the meetings are billed as public, you need
to book a place by calling 01438 737350.
To attend at Heathcote you must book by 8 June and at
Marriotts by 15 June. Clearly this is an issue which affects Knebworth,
so if you have secondary school children or children approaching
secondary school age, it's in your interest to inform yourself and
express a view. |
