2009 marks the Nineteenth Anniversary of the successful link between Knebworth and its French twin
town, Châtelaillon-Plage,
a well known sea-side resort on the West coast. Exchange visits
have involved groups for football, golf, tennis, painting, dance and
gymnastics and English visitors have taken part in the Châtelaillon
summer processions
and celebrations |

| As well as organising visits for members of the twinning
association, the local committee puts groups in touch with their French
counterparts and helps them to arrange exchange visits, usually staying
with a French family in their home and then returning the hospitality
when they visit Knebworth.
Grants are sometimes available from the
European Union to fund groups of young people. Visits usually include
excursions to places of interest, special events, receptions, meals,
parties and, depending on the group's interests, sports fixtures and so
on.
We have set up
links for young children and secondary schools. Social events and fund
raising activities are arranged locally. |
