Local Hospital Services
Public consultations are currently being held on the
future of our local hospital services. The East and North Herts PCT are
holding an open meeting to discuss the NHS proposals at Knebworth Village
Hall on Tuesday 25th September at 1.30pm. If you are attending the meeting
it would be worth reading the questionnaire document. Copies are available
in the surgery waiting room. The questionnaire needs to be completed and
returned by October 1st – 5pm.
Local Development Framework (LDF)
Another important public consultation is on the NHDC Local Development
Framework (LDF). This commences in mid September. The LDF will reflect your
views on how future housing/building development will impact on Green Belt
areas in North Herts. This consultation has 3 phases, each lasting 6 weeks.
We will try to keep you informed of deadlines and will impart all the
information we have in our 6 monthly newsletter which should be delivered to
you by the end of September. There will also be more in the October Parish
News. The phase one consultation ends at the end of October so once you know
where to register your views please do so quickly. The consultation will be
available on disc and can be viewed on :-
www.north-herts.gov.uk (follow
the consultation links.) Paper copies of the document will also be
available.
Both the NHS and the NHDC-LDF consultations are important.
Take part or abnegate your democratic right and the right to complain
afterwards.
Collection of Household Waste
In October there will be changes to the way our household waste is
collected. More waste is to be recycled. These will all be collected
fortnightly.
- Dark Grey Bins - household waste.
- Brown Bins - garden waste (including 25% cardboard).
- Blue Box - paper.
- Black Box – bottles one week, cans the next week.
I am also informed that when “In Vessel Composting
Facilities” become available next year NHDC will be able to take some
kitchen waste and as much cardboard as you produce, in the brown bin. There
will be up to date information in the press and elsewhere nearer the time.

Environmental Action Day
On Thursday 19th July the police, NHDC rural safety, environment and traffic
control officers, the Fire Service, our clerk, 2 parish councillors and DVLA
officers walked every road and footpath in Knebworth. As a result at least 4
cars without road tax were clamped and two abandoned cars towed away. Dumped
rubbish was cleared from Kerr Close, Peters Way, Deanscroft and Orchard Way.
Business owners were spoken to by Fire Officers, regarding fire hazards and
graffiti was earmarked for removal by NHDC. I walked the area west of the
railway line and was delighted that there was very little dropped litter.
The station car park and embankment were untidy (we'll talk to the railway
folk about that) and so was the Stockens Green end of Gun Road Gardens.
Perhaps the people who own that land might clear it? |
