Special Parish Meeting
On Wednesday 4th October we are holding a Special
Meeting of the Parish to hear your views on Green Belt development. This
meeting is in the Village Hall at 8pm. A leaflet/newsletter should have
dropped through your door by now. It is very important that we get a good
feel for how the village might react to any proposed developments around
Knebworth. Some of these developments might be imposed on us and the Parish
Council would like to be in the position to dictate to some degree where
such development might take place. Do come if you can.
Go mower go!
Our Triple Mower has reached the end of its working life on the recreation
grounds. We have purchased a new, second hand one to replace it. You will
now see Andrew, our groundsman, travelling much faster on his grass cutting
trips to our various Recreation Grounds.
The lights go out
Unhappily I have to report that we will probably have no Christmas lights in
the village this year. On investigation it has been revealed that the
electrical supply units, fitted when the lights first went up a few years
ago, no longer comply with new regulations and have to be replaced. This is
costly and has not been budgeted for this year. We feel it is best that we
have the sites properly inspected and get estimates for the replacement
costs which can then be fed into next year's budget.
Parish Plan review
The Parish Council has now inspected the Parish Plan in detail and is
reporting back to the Parish Plan team so things are slowly moving forward.
Go surgery go?
Finally, in answer to a number of questions from members of the Parish,
there is no further news regarding the Doctors' surgery and the proposed
medical centre in Stevenage. The Primary Care Trust promised to keep us up
to date with new developments. It seems that there may have been none. This
may be due to the fact that NHS Trusts are restructuring parts of their
organisation and members of the PCT may have been concentrating their minds
on other things. We will continue to ask questions. |
