PARISH COUNCIL NEWS

June 2007

Annual Parish Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the Parish on May 2nd went well. It was very well attended and there were some interesting exchanges of views. The Parish Council will evaluate the meeting and take action where appropriate.

Parish Plan
The Parish Plan has been delivered and has been generally well received. On behalf of the residents of Knebworth and the Parish Council I would like to offer a massive vote of thanks to the Parish Plan Team who have worked tirelessly over the past 31 months to produce this very important and substantial document. Please read it and make comments as directed in the Plan. I do not intend elaborating on this now as you have all had the document and can read my introductory comments there.

Talking rubbish!
At the Parish Meeting mention was made of areas where there always seems to be a lot of litter. There are moves afoot to get an external body to clean up Knebworth`s litter. If this does not happen we may initiate a formal litter picking day or weekend, probably in July. In the meantime may I suggest that if every household in Knebworth kept the area in the proximity of their property clear of litter this would have a considerable visual impact. We now have someone clearing litter from the Main Recreation Ground every weekend morning until the end of the Summer. It would be good to think we could have Knebworth looking tidy before the start of Knebworth Festival (June 22nd).

You may be interested to know that, for the last forty years, the owners of one of Knebworth`s family businesses have picked up litter every day when walking from home to the shop and back again. On your behalf I would like to thank them and also the other residents who I often see picking up litter while I move around Knebworth. Please join the club, I'm told it is good for the waistline.
