Link Up Lunch Club
Link Up Lunch Club has two problems. If these
problems are not resolved then the club might be forced to close. It has
been going for many years, provides a cooked lunch for between 40 and 50
folk every Wednesday and for some of these people may be the only social
activity they engage in during the week.
So what are the problems?
They need a new Secretary and a new Treasurer as
both of the current incumbents are about to retire from those posts. This
voluntary work is not onerous and could be organised to work even if the
holders of the posts were not able to be there on a Wednesday. John Hanscomb,
on 813058, can provide more details.
This is an urgent Knebworth Parish matter. It would be
an enormous shame if such a thriving and essential organisation were forced
to close down.
Please contact John Hanscomb or me if you have any
suggestions.
Link Up is now using our new electric cooker. The old gas
one, still completely usable, was condemned by gas engineers as it did not
comply with new regulations. It had no external extraction system and needed
all sorts of up to date safety cut-offs. The cost of all this was about
twice the cost of the new electric one. It is a bit smaller but seems to be
doing the job.
Youth Shelter
The Youth Shelter is now erected on the main recreation ground. Its colour
was chosen by teenagers. Over the next few months more items of play
equipment will appear both on the main recreation ground and on the King
George V recreation ground in Old Knebworth.
Have a good summer. |
