PARISH COUNCIL NEWS

February 2008

Things have been fairly quiet since my last article. The Planning and Environment committee and the Recreation Grounds committee have both met but there is little to report. In December the Parish Council met and set its budget for 2008/09. The precept will show an increase of under 5%. It was also agreed to co-opt Mrs Caroline Presland onto the Parish Council.

Results of public meeting
In the January issue of Parish News I promised to announce the results from the responses to the issues raised at the public meeting in December. Electronic and paper responses added up to 300, just 10% of our electorate. At an additional meeting of the Parish Council on January 7th the Council decided that the results were too complicated to explain in the space available here and that, in any case, the whole village should see these results. A newsletter will be compiled and distributed in due course.

New flats
I am delighted to announce that, following pressure from the Parish Council, supported by the Southern Rural Committee, NHDC officers have been persuaded to name the new flats that are going up at the bottom of Park Lane, “Wordsworth Court”. This is a fitting tribute to Robin Wordsworth who was a long standing Parish and District Councillor. He is now retired from public work but still works tirelessly for Save the Children Fund. He edited the Parish News for many years and is currently in charge of its distribution.
