Local Development Framework
The Local Development Framework display was mounted in the village hall for
4 days from October 16th (as reported in my November article). In three days
only 3 members of the public visited it so we did not open on the Friday.
The LDF consultation period has now closed but there is
still time for Knebworth to have an impact on the contents of this document.
Come to the Public Meeting in the Village Hall on Wednesday 5th December.
After hearing various presentations you will have the opportunity to fill in
a questionnaire relating to possible Green Belt development which might,
perhaps, open the door to village enhancing development in the centre of
Knebworth. A leaflet has been delivered to every household giving greater
detail and explaining how to get hold of a questionnaire if you cannot get
to this important meeting. The results from that questionnaire may then be
included in the final LDF document.
Knebworth Conservation Areas
The Knebworth Conservation Areas consultation display was mounted in the
village hall on 3rd November. Around 30 villagers attended. The display is
now in the Library and will be there until 14th December. More
questionnaires to fill in.
Stevenage and North Herts Action Plan
Yet another consultation has now been launched. The Stevenage and North
Herts Action Plan (SNAP) consultation is running until late January. More
about that in the January issue.
Recreation Ground
Work on the Watton Road Recreation Ground play areas is now completed and it
all looks good.
Remembrance Day
The Remembrance Sunday service at the war memorial in Old Knebworth on 11th
November was blessed with cold but dry weather. A huge crowd turned up to
show their respects to those who died for their country. Rev Jim Pye led the
service which was organised by the local British Legion. David Cox from
Letchworth gave a most moving performance of Last Post and Reveille and John
Bantick led the singing of the hymn. Thanks to all who came, to the
residents of Jubilee Lodge East and West for permission to place the
loudspeakers in their gardens and to Knebworth Village School for loan of
the amplification equipment.
Christmas lights
At the time of writing this I am reliably informed that by the time you
receive this issue the Christmas lights will be shining out in Station Road
and London Road.
