Good wishes to the new editorial group for the Parish News. August is their
first edition and we all offer our thanks to them for taking on the task.
Our Roads
Occasionally a few of us on the Parish Council get a chance to meet with a
representative from Hertfordshire Highways to discuss concerns relating to
our roads. There is always the cry that there is no money for anything but
essential repairs. But we do not allow that to deter us from trying. There
was a meeting in mid April. I couldn`t attend but a few days before the
meeting I drove around Knebworth and identified areas where I felt repairs
were needed. This list was taken to the meeting more in hope than in
expectation that it would reap results.
Joy of joys! Wonder of wonders! With one exception all of
the defects that were identified have been dealt with and I like to think
that this is due to the continual pressure exerted by the Parish Council. So
I hope that folk living near the junctions of Gun Road/Sayer Way; Meadway/Wadnell
Way : and Orchard Way/Bellamy Close, plus those near the top end of Gun Road
Gardens and the southern end of Gun Lane have noticed the repairs. I
understand the northern end of Gun Lane is to be repaired by mid August. For
all of this we say a big thank you to Herts Highways. There is still see no
evidence that work will be carried out in Milestone Road, which is a shame
as that road is a disgrace.
Post Office Closures
A visit to www.hertsdirect.org and
a click on “Home” will get you to the page listing the Post Offices that
face possible closure in Herts. You will be pleased to know that our
Knebworth Post Office is not on that list.
Parish Council website
Apologies that our Parish Council website is still not up and running. It
seems that this is more difficult to achieve than we once thought. I`m sure
It will happen, eventually. So much for technology ! |
