I sometimes get invited, in my capacity as
Chairman of the Parish Council, to public and civic events. Recently we had
the NHDC Civic Service in St Martin`s Church and a couple of weeks ago
Carole and I went to a Civic Reception hosted by NHDC Cllr Alan Bardett.
This was a money raising function in aid of The Living Room charity, based
in Stevenage. A very nice meal was followed by an auction and that, together
with the tombola, raised around £3000 for The Living Room. Shortly before
that evening I was invited to be a judge for the Stevenage and North Herts
YOPEY awards, with an awards ceremony during the February half term break.
The Young People Of The Year Awards happen in a number of areas and
celebrate those young people who make a difference in our society. Young
carers, those who work for charity, those who support others of the same age
and so on. If you know of a young person you would like to nominate for a

These are just a few of the events that I am happy to attend on behalf of
the people of Knebworth.
Knebworth JMI Headmaster
retires
Most recently I was delighted to attend the leaving party for Kevin Williams
in order that I could present him with a gift on behalf of the Parish
Council to express our thanks for all he has done for the children of
Knebworth over the past 20 years. We`ll miss him.
Village development
We hear that the application to develop the 9, Stevenage Road site has been
withdrawn. The Parish Council is aware that there might be a number of this
type of application over the next few months/years.
Annual Parish Meeting
Wednesday 7th May is the date for our Annual Parish Meeting at the village
hall. I am sure that it will, as always, be a lively meeting. We invite key
personnel from HCC and NHDC but they do not always turn up. If there are any
specific topics that you would like addressed during that meeting please
give us advance notice of such topics so that we can attempt to source
