Local residents, councillors and other members of the community have been invited to a public consultation for a proposed solar park at Swangleys Farm, near Knebworth.

The consultation will be held on Tuesday 15th July from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Trinity Church Hall, Park Lane, Knebworth, SG3 6PD and will provide an opportunity for local people to view the proposals, provide feedback and meet the developers.

The proposed development, by Wiltshire-based Solstice Renewables, is for a 10.5 Mega Watt (MW) solar park that would generate enough renewable electricity to supply the equivalent of 3,200 average homes.

Giovanni Maruca, Director, Solstice Renewables, said: “The site will be well screened so that it has a minimal visual impact. Our plans also include an exciting programme of biodiversity enhancement, and the land will stay in agricultural usage for the lifetime of the project.

“We’re looking forward to meeting as many members of the local community as possible, and welcome their suggestions for how the scheme could be improved.

“We’re also offering a community benefit fund of approximately £10,500 a year for the solar park’s life, and would be interested in hearing about any local social or environmental projects which the fund could support.”

The site is approximately 20 hectares in area. It is located 1 km east of Knebworth, and north of Woolmer Green and Datchworth.

Mow they are fitter than ever and totally hooked on the buzz they get from running; so much so that they decided to look for a local running club. Then it occurred to them, why drive to a running club when there are lots of beautiful running routes around Knebworth?

If you are interested in helping create or join a Knebworth runners' network, please contact Liz at lizkirby63@gmail.com. It doesn't matter what your motivation is - competition, getting fitter or simply becoming better acquainted with your fellow villagers.

A multi- activity group for over 65’s is restarting in Knebworth and is Herts Sports Partnershipproviding local residents with the chance to try gentle and seated exercises, table tennis, badminton, new age bowls, indoor curling and even some local health walks.
